The Bloomington University seal bears the words “Bloomington University” as well as the motto 'VIA AD POTIUS CRAS' : 'THE WAY TO A BETTER TOMORROW' inside, with an emblem of Bloomington University emerging in the center. In this way, the outer circle symbolizes 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam:The World Is One Family' frames the seal, representing who we are and the university’s purpose.
This seal has very limited application and is primarily reserved use on approved Presidential documents and for official University use, such as communications, contracts, lecterns and academic diplomas.The seal should in no way be distorted or altered. This includes changing the font or words on the seal.
Bloomington University has two official variations of its academic logos: one is the shield and another featuring the shield with the Coat of Arms.
The lotus flower, accompanied by the vigilant crane, symbolizes the rejuvenation of both the spirit and the mind, embracing a state of higher consciousness. The shield adorned with an open book, Pegasus, moon, stars, and rising sun signifies the embodiment of knowledge, serenity, integrity, eloquence, achievement, and hope.
